Fast food has become a regular for Americans and their children's meals. High fat, high sodium, and high sugar content is what is to be expected when eating these for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is widely known to Americans: fast food is bad for your health. So why do we continue to scarf down tons upon tons of burgers and french fries per year.
I understand where you are coming from and I do agree. However, I may have a solution. Most Americans during these tough times in the economy are not looking to spend a lot on a meal, and majority of the good quality foods such as "organic" tend to be higher in price. This causes most Americans who have a low salary budget to go out and spend as little as possible on a meal. They then become dependent on this and have no other choice. What needs to happen is that these food prices must drop in order for this epidemic do see a decrease in trend.
ReplyDelete- Adam Katzman
The taste and the good feeling that fast food brings to people when they eat it is what keeps bringing them back as said in the movie. Not to mention the low prices as Adam said. People know that fast food is bad for them but they don't know just how bad it actually is. They see the excess calories which they push aside but they don't see the underlying effects that it has on the body that is shown in the movie. I feel that if people were more educated on the side effects of the food and would put the time in to make a homemade meal then this epidemic of fast good eating would slowly but surely pass.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Adam. Tough economic times have put people in a bind and they are forced to compromise healthy with cheap. I also think people get sucked in; they'll have it once and then they remember how good the food tastes and then before they know it, they are back at the McDonald's the next day because they got one taste of their food and now they can't get enough. The movie talked about the science behind fast food being addicting, and it said that the food stimulates the pleasure center in the brain releasing dopamine, causing you to get addicted to it.
