I can relate with the review given in the second to last paragraph. I felt so attached to all the characters. It was great to see Chief come out of his shell for awhile and it was sad to see McMurphy go the way he did because along with all the mischief he brought to the ward, he brought out the best in all the characters.
I agree when the author talked about how Kesey instilled a sense if fear that went along with Nurse Ratched. Nurse Ratched made it seem that she was in control even when she actually wasn't that makes the reader think she has the power. Even though her control over the men began to dwindle as soon as McMurphy stepped foot into the ward. She may have won in her head in the head but McMurphy came out on top by really changing the men in the institution, especially Bromden.
ReplyDeleteThe way that McMurphy stirs up the ward is entirely necessary. If he hadn't done what he did then none of the patients would make any progress and nurse ratched would have still been taking advantage and keeping them trapped in the ward.
